1. Types of Weddings & Legal Process
- You can choose a civil ceremony (conducted by a municipal Marriage Officer) or certain religious ceremonies (like Anglican), noting that Catholic weddings require a preceding civil marriage. Weddings can take place at various authorized venues, including beaches or private villas.
- Weddings must occur between 15 days and 3 months after filing a marriage notice; an expedited option (2–3 working days) is available for an additional fee.
2. Required Documents & Residency
- Required: Valid passports (min. 6 months), long-form birth certificates, certificate of no impediment (single status), statutory declarations via solicitor/notary, and Apostille. Divorced individuals need Decree Absolute, and widowed need death certificate.
- You must appear in person at least 3 working days before the wedding at the local Town Hall to submit documents.
- Non-residents can legally marry in Cyprus without a residency permit, as long as the documentation is properly submitted.
3. Fees & Certificates
- Standard civil wedding fee: approximately €128; expedited option costs about €282.
- Certified copies of the marriage certificate are about €13–14 each, useful for embassy or legal purposes.
- A certified copy of your marriage record is also sent to your home country’s embassy or consulate in Cyprus.
