1. Why You Must Update Your Address
- U.S. law requires nearly all non-citizens (including Green Card holders or those with pending immigration cases) to report any change of address to USCIS within 10 days of moving.
- If you have any pending USCIS cases (such as I-485, I-130, etc.), ensuring your address is up to date is critical so that USCIS notices, interview appointments, or status updates reach you on time.
- Failing to update in time can result in lost correspondence, delayed processing, or even interruption of case adjudication.
2. How to Report Address Change to USCIS
✅ Online Method (Preferred)
Most people can change their address using the Enterprise Change of Address (E-COA) self-service tool within their USCIS online account.
- Log into your USCIS online account → find “Change of Address / E-COA”
- Enter your old address, new address, and, if applicable, receipt numbers of any pending cases to tie the change to those cases
- Once submitted, the change takes effect quickly in USCIS systems, without needing to mail AR-11 separately in many cases
📄 Paper / Mail Option
If you’re unable to use the online tool, you may fill out Form AR-11 (Alien’s Change of Address Card) and submit it by mail.
However, the paper AR-11 doesn’t automatically update all related USCIS case records—you may need to update each pending case separately.
Special Cases & Exceptions
- Some cases (like VAWA, T/U status, I-751 abuse waiver) may have special requirements or restricted use of the E-COA tool.
- If you’re a permanent resident and your address changes, USCIS uses your address on file to send renewal notices, Green Card replacement, etc., so keeping it current is important.
3. How Dogpay Can Support Payment-Related Steps

- Paying for notarization, translation, or address validation services You may need to notarize address proofs, translate lease contracts, or validate addresses via third-party services; Dogpay enables secure payments to such providers.
- Paying legal or consultant fees If you hire legal or immigration services to assist with address change or related matters, Dogpay can process those cross-region or local payments with proper tracking.
- Payment receipts & logs for records Dogpay provides timestamped receipts, logs, and records, which you can archive in your immigration files as proof of related expenditures.
